In this new series of works Owen occupies a strange position perpetually caught between external representation and introspective process. The production of artwork relies on this dualism and requires an open channel between the exterior world and internal perspective.

In Channel Synthesis, the viewer is required to step into the frame of the images which are exhibited at floor level, physically inhabiting the painting in a parallel of this process.

Walking over twenty-seven paintings, playfully placed underfoot, the conventional established hierarchies of viewing painting is subverted. Summoning the trope of the dance-floor, the entire installation functions as an interactive canvas that shapes how the body navigates each painting and the space as a whole.
